Lluís Ferrer

Lluís Ferrer licenciou-se em Medicina Veterinária pela Universidade de Zaragoza e concluiu o PhD na Escola Veterinária de Hannover, Alemanha. Desde 1992, é Professor de Medicina Animal e Cirurgia na Faculdade de Veterinária da Universidade Autónoma de Barcelona (UAB) em Espanha. As suas áreas de investigação e estudo têm como foco a leishmaniose canina, demodicose e a dermatologia comparada, especialmente sobre a base genética das doenças da pele. Foi professor convidado nas universidades de Cornell (EUA, 1985), Utrecht (Holanda, 1987), Guelph (Canadá, 1992), Lisboa (Portugal,1995) e Montreal (Canadá 2009-2010). Foi vice-reitor e reitor da UAB (2002-2009).

 

Lluís Ferrer obtained his DVM degree at the University of Zaragoza (Spain) in 1981, a Master in Animal Pathology at the Veterinary School of Hannover (Germany) in 1984 and a PhD again at the University of Zaragoza (Spain). Since 1985 has been lecturing Pathology and Dermatology at the Veterinary School of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. In 1994 was recognised as Diplomate by the European College of Veterinary Dermatology. Since 2012 he is Professor of Dermatology at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University, in Massachussets (USA). He has been Dean of the Veterinary School of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (1994-2000) and Rector of the same university (2002-2009). His investigations have been focused on skin diseases of animals, especially canine leishmaniosis, demodicosis, canine atopic dermatitis, genetic skin diseases and on the treatment with stem cells in dermatology.
